Work and Travel USA Application Process and Documents

We guide you through every step of the process, from registration and documentation to your departure for the United States.

1. Register for the Program

  • Online registration. Complete the application form.
  • Participation agreement. Sign the required program documents.
  • Application fee. Submit your initial payment.

2. English Interview and Job Selection

  • Short interview/language assessment. We evaluate your communication skills.
  • Job placement guidance. We help you choose an employer that matches your profile and expectations.
  • 💡 Your English does not need to be perfect. Being able to communicate effectively at work is what matters most.

3. Application Documents

  • Complete the required forms. All documents are submitted online through the sponsor’s portal.
  • Sponsor requirements. Provide documentation in accordance with CIEE or Greenheart Exchange guidelines.

4. Securing a Job Offer

  • Select an employer. Let us know which job opportunity interests you.
  • Employer interview. We arrange an interview with your chosen employer.
  • Self Placement option. You may also provide your own job offer.

5. Flight Arrangements

  • Your travel preferences. Provide your preferred departure and return dates, as well as destinations.
  • Reservation. BTC books your flight according to your requirements.
  • Payment. You pay for the ticket once the reservation has been approved.
  • 💡 Applies only to participants who choose BTC to arrange their airfare.

6. Orientation Training

  • Mandatory orientation. Organized by CIEE or Greenheart Exchange.
  • Online format. Participate from anywhere at a time convenient for you.
  • Topics covered. Program regulations, safety guidelines, and insurance information.

7. J-1 Visa Process

  • Online application. Complete the DS-160 visa application form.
  • Visa fees. Pay the required visa-related fees online.
  • Required documents. Submit all necessary documents to BTC for verification.
  • Embassy interview. We help schedule your appointment and accompany participants to the U.S. Embassy for the visa interview.

8. Prepare and Depart for the USA

  • Final preparations. BTC will advise you on what to bring and how to get ready for your trip.
  • Your adventure begins! Depart for the United States on your scheduled travel date.

9. Return Home

  • Return deadline. No later than October 24.
  • Timing. Your return date depends on the end date shown on your DS-2019 form and your academic schedule.

💡 Important: During the application process, participants are required to pay the first and second program installments and purchase their airline ticket according to the deadlines specified in the participation agreement.
